Thea is a family portrait photographer who photographs London families in the comfort of their own home, capturing their life with creative flair and her unique, timeless style. Her ability to find the extraordinary in the every day enables her to create unique portraits that are natural and authentic.
As a children’s photographer, I love to capture families in the sanctuary of their own homes in a natural and timeless way. My photography always tells a story, and also documents and reveals the beautiful and honest connections we have with our loved ones. I don’t have a ‘style’ I could categorize my work in…I simply try and provide my clients with images that I would want if I was them. Weddings and Christenings call for a documentary approach every time…the way I do in home portraits is a bit hard to explain, but its certainly where a huge outpouring of love happens!
Just you being you.
My approach to clients’ portrait photography sessions is no different to the way I photograph my own family; searching out the fleeting moments and beautiful natural light that are interwoven into our daily lives. Every family photography session is different so there’s no set formula…only creative collaboration.
I’m a London children’s photographer , specialising in Family photography with a unique edge, in the South East region of the UK. I love to photograph families in their home, capturing all the little things that they do when hanging out together.
Sometimes I get to photograph Mums with their little ones at home during the week; this special time can often pass us by in a blur of domestic chaos, but these are also the moments are the ones you’ll want to have to look back on in years to come! I know this as I have teenagers now, and I now look on those days with particular fondness. Other popular times for an in home shoot with all the family start with Saturday morning breakfast rituals and end with lazy Sunday afternoon chilling out with the kids and perhaps venturing outside too!
The homes I photograph families in come in all shapes and sizes…from an apartment in the center of town to a farm in the countryside. The one thing they all have in common is that they are a type of sacred space for families, where everyone is free to be themselves and truly relax. Why dress up to go to a studio when you can stay at home with bare feet, play with your kids and spend your precious time together in the space you all love to be in?
That’s not to say that kids won’t misbehave during your photoshoot and parents are expected to be perfect….it’s actually when kids are a tiny bit cheeky, and when grown ups begin to embrace their vulnerability (and stop worrying about double chins and other silly things that won’t matter in 10 or 20 years) that I find the best photographs are made. The families I’ve photographed over the years have now become friends, and I love to see how they’ve all completely changed when I get to photograph them again.
And it’s not just families and weddings that I photograph; I also work with businesses, schools and brands (VSCO, Regents St Apple Store, Anorak online, Kikicraftedwithlove, Sally Nencini, Fitter Food, several schools & nurserys incl Bright Horizons, The Grace Tales, T&H; ‘The New Artisans’ book )
Recently, I’ve photographed families in many London areas including Dulwich, East Dulwich, Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham, Wandsworth, Balham, Battersea, Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill Gate, Queenspark, Wimbledon, Richmond, Highgate, Crouch End, Islington, Greemwich, Blackheath, Hackney and Hampstead. I also visit families in Surrey, Kent, Sussex and Essex.
