Here are a few from a recent in-home newborn baby photography session. Using natural light and lasting for two hours, newborn baby photography portraits are designed by me to fit in around the needs of your new baby and your busy family life. I come to you in your own home, which makes the whole experience easy and allows for flexibility, with plenty of time for feeding breaks and nappy changes. I like to capture a wide range of shots, including both tiny details and portraits so that you can have this special time thoroughly documented and your memories of such fleeting moments are preserved forever.
Having been a newborn baby photographer in London for 10 years, I use the benefit of my experience to inform each session so that we get the very best images that you’ll want to treasure and display. Photographing newborn babies has been the area of photography that took me the longest to learn, as it requires a wide range of technical skills. Newborn baby photographers also need also a wealth of experience to draw upon as newborn babies can be very unpredictable. In order to go with the pace that the baby sets and also capture the mood, it’s important for me as a photographer to be able to act quickly and to be ready to respond to every slight change in their expression and mood. My photography has an honest and soulful feel about it because I am also able to slow down and watch quietly, allowing the story to unfold naturally and without lots of direction and interference.
Being at home is always a relaxing place to be for your newborn baby shoot, as it means you have everything to hand and can control the environment to be just as your baby likes. I photograph families and their babies all over London, and also sometimes further afield to other surrounding areas, such as Sussex, Kent, Windsor, and Surrey. I work in both black and white and also colour, and each session is individual to each family and their personal preferences, in this case b&w.
The best time to have your newborn baby photographed is in the first 7-10 days, so try and book a date in around this time after your due date if you can. Obviously, we will need to be flexible, so booking early allows me to save a few possible dates for you.
