This is the first of two stories from a lovely Christening in Windsor. Although I’m usually based in London for Christenings, I also travel further afield sometimes. This was the second Christening I have photographed with this beautiful family, and it was such a pleasure to meet their new daughter and be there to capture their special day at the local church and then at home. I love to photograph all the little details, such as the Christening robe, flowers, and Christening jewelry being worn for the first time. So many happy memories are being made, and it’s always an honor to document them for the family. I document the ceremony in a quiet, unobtrusive way, in the same way that I photograph weddings. There are usually some group shots at the end and plenty of portraits of the family and Godparents. This family wanted some photographs taken at home before the service, which is a lovely way to tell the full story of the day and will be wonderful for the child being Christened to look back on when they are older.
If you would like to book your Christening into the diary then get in touch as soon as you have your date. My reportage approach to photographing Christenings is the same as with weddings, it’s just that it’s a shorter day. I mainly use natural light which is important for the service part of the day inside the church, as it’s very unobtrusive as well as beautiful.
