Home is a place where those we love are gathered together, and a place we can feel that we belong…..
Baby Reuben and his parents were staying at his grandparents home in London, while over here on a trip from where they live in Melbourne. They wanted photographs taken to remind them of this precious and rare time when the family was gathered together in this special place.
From the moment I stepped out of the midday sun at the height of a London heatwave, and into the cool, dark Victorian hallway of this home, I knew that there would be an awesome few hours ahead. I could already hear the Grandfather of baby Reuben playing the accordion in his music room; an amazing treasure cove full of musical instruments collected from around the world. Everyone enjoyed listening to Grandpa’s tunes on his accordion and banjo, with cousins in America joining in the family gathering on Skype.
This family’s home has been well loved for several generations, visibly holding within its walls so many memories. The photographs pinned to walls as the family gradually grew bigger, the furniture and decorations lovingly collected over many years; everywhere I looked I could see and feel memories ingrained into the very fabric of this home.
