Your family portrait

sessions at home

Having a photo session in your own home is a great way to capture your family life as it is now, and it’s also where everyone feels the most comfortable.

With an in-home session there are endless opportunities for beautiful, natural photographs of your family feeling genuinely happy and relaxed. Your children will quickly get used to the camera because they are comfortable in their surroundings and they have the freedom to just be themselves

Occasionally I photograph mums at home with their little ones for a motherhood session; this special time can often pass us by in a blur of domesticity, but these are also the moments are the ones you’ll want to have to look back on in years to come!

Other popular times for an in-home shoot with all the family might start with Saturday morning breakfast rituals and sometimes end with a lazy Sunday afternoon chilling out with the kids and perhaps some adventuring outside too.

Be your own family historian…

document your days

It doesn’t matter where your home is, or what style of home you live in….it’s the love and connections your family shares that are important. As a family portrait photographer, my style is a combination of timeless portraiture and an unobtrusive narrative approach …every image will tell your family’s unique story.

No props, no posing, no set formula, just you being YOU!

Our homes can come in all shapes and sizes…from an apartment in the center of town to a farm in the countryside. The one thing they all have in common is that they are a comfortable space where everyone is free to be themselves and truly relax. Families can stay at home and spend precious time together, while I capture it all with my camera.

my approach

to your photoshoot

Documenting our lives is something we all do with our phones all the time, because our loved ones are so important to us. With a family portrait session that’s also what we are doing…recording real life….you can be your own family historian! When I am photographing other families, I aim to take the photographs I would want for my own family. I have three children at uni, and I treasure all the portraits I have taken of them over the years as they grew up. I believe that there are beautiful, poetic moments to be found in the everyday. With careful use of available light and my experienced eye for detail, we’ll create images that you’ll want to frame and keep forever, not just store on your phone.

You receive your edited high res photographs in an private online gallery.Images are in both colour and b&w, and you’ll get between 150-300 photographs, depending on the length and type of your session.

Most adults do, it’s only natural for most of us! By getting on with an activity and doing stuff together, you’ll be too distracted to notice the camera.

These are shorter sessions, available during the week. Specially for mothers and their younger children, with the aim of capturing everyday routines for longevity, and precious downtime spent chilling together while your tiny tots are not yet in school.

With young children and babies, I always think that early morning is the best time for photography sessions. However, if you aren’t morning people then later on in the afternoon works well too.

Some questions answered about

Your family’s session

Every family photoshoot is unique to you and your family.

Natural family portraits

01. What should we wear?

It’s important that you feel comfortable being yourselves at your photoshoot. I can give you some guidance about what works well in photos, and I am always available to advise if you need help choosing an outfit.

02. at home or outside?

I have to say that my favourite place to take family portraits is usually in your home. However, in the warmer months it is sometimes possible to do both if you have a green space nearby. If you have a location in nature that you love, then we can meet there. I can recommend spaces in London…there are always pockets of greenery wherever you are, even in the centre of town.

03. how long does it take?

Family sessions take around 2 hours. It’s best to block out most of the day for your family photo-shoot, so that you aren’t rushing off to another meeting. I know weekends can be busy times for families, but it will be worth it when you get the images back.

04. when do we get our photos?

All images are edited by hand by me, and it takes a few weeks for delivery of your high-res digital files.

Hello! I have been terrible at posting pictures on Hello! I have been terrible at posting pictures on Instagram this year. It’s been a busy year with lots of shoots and I have also been completing an MA which has been incredibly rewarding and also very challenging (in a good way). It also feels really difficult to post photos of beautiful things with all that is going on in the world- especially Gaza. Thank you to all of my loyal clients and families who have asked me to be their photographer for many years. New commissions are also welcomed, so feel free to email me for inquiries. This is a photo of my new studio assistant, Milo who is obsessed with climbing on my desk when I edit. If you would like to see more of my work then check out my website as I will not be posting on instagram very often anymore. Big 🧡
