I love this recent session at home with a beautiful and effortlessly stylish family in West London. There were some lovely communal gardens near by that we used so the boys could have a kick about, as they do every weekend. I was delighted when Pauline asked for a documentary session, as this type of non posed relaxed family photography is my very favourite. It really takes the pressure off the whole family if they don’t feel obliged to cheese into the camera, and can hang out at home in bare feet and just do whatever they normally would do anyway. Sometimes people are a little hesitant to book a documentary session, but if you want unique photographs that are a true reflection of your family then this might be for you. I always slip in one or two posed shots for grandparents’ walls, but on the whole this documentary style is the best way to get one off images. Real life comes up with far more material than I could ever think of…resulting in honest and truly authentic images that won’t ever seem out of date.
