Family portrait photography sessions – at home.

How it works…..

I’m a London family and children’s photographer, specialising in creative family photography with a unique edge, in the South East region of the UK. I love to photograph babies and families in their homes, capturing all the little things that they do when hanging out together.

Having a photo session in your own home is a great way to capture your family life as it is now, and it’s also where everyone feels the most comfortable. With an in-home session there are endless opportunities for beautiful, natural photographs of your family feeling genuinely happy and relaxed. Your children will quickly get used to the camera because they are comfortable in their surroundings and they have the freedom to just be themselves. Newborn babies in particular are far more content in their home, where the temperature is just right and all they need is to hand. If you have older babies and children and have a local location that you know well, we can incorporate that into your session.

There’s always a strong narrative thread running through the final set of images from a family in-home session. The end result is a wide range of images; detail shots, action shots, lots of portraits you’ll want to enlarge and frame, and a set of images that come together beautifully to tell the full story of your session in an album.

Sometimes I get to photograph Mums together with their little ones for a weekday ‘motherhood session’; this special time can often pass us by in a blur of domesticity, but these are also the moments are the ones you’ll want to have to look back on in years to come! Other popular times for an in-home shoot with all the family might start with Saturday morning breakfast rituals and sometimes end with a lazy Sunday afternoon chilling out with the kids and perhaps some adventuring outside too! Here are some examples of some things families have got up to in their family portrait photography sessions over the years…..as you can see there’s no set formula. What better way to get inspired than to follow the children’s lead and let them teach us how to remain in the moment and appreciate the small things?

Our homes can come in all shapes and sizes…from an apartment in the center of town to a farm in the countryside. The one thing they all have in common is that they are a comfortable space where everyone is free to be themselves and truly relax. Families can stay at home and spend precious time together, while I capture it all with my camera.
