Earlier on this year, I had a beautiful portrait session at home with this gorgeous family. Family portrait sessions with me are relaxed and unposed…you get to spend time with your family whilst I document the whole story as it unfolds.
I have been a portrait photographer for almost 10 years now, and family sessions at home are still my absolute favorite thing to photograph. Whilst no two sessions are the same, as each family’s story is always individual to them, the way in which I approach the photography remains unchanged. Uncomplicated, timeless portraits in good light that are emotive and beautiful to look at. It’s taken me a lot of practice to do something that now feels second nature, although I still always feel the same nervous excitement before every shoot I do as I did all those years ago when starting out. I think this is a good sign, as it shows that I’m still as passionate about giving my very best, just as I was right back at the beginning of my journey. Many of the families I photograph have become well known to me, as I return year after year to photograph their kids growing up, celebrating milestone birthdays or their relatives visiting from abroad. It’s always an honor to be there to capture these moments, however small or big, and my main aim every time I shoot is to create images that will be enjoyed by families for many generations to come.
