Surrey family portraits
I was totally delighted when talented UAE photographer Karen contacted me to take some portraits of her with her kids in Surrey, while she was over in the UK. Being able to photograph another family photographer was both nerve wracking and fun in equal measure…it was really fun to be able to talk about which type light we liked best as we checked out different spots in the woods. The boys were content to run around under the vast late afternoon sky, exploring secret dens in among the heather and ferns. As the last of the light started to fade, Karen’s Mum joined her for a few snaps with the kids, which was a really lovely way to end the session….by then the boys were worn out from running around and happy to slow down for a cuddly group shot with their Grandma. It’s all about timing!!

With children under one years old its best to stay at home for photos…but for older kids, autumn is a great time to have an adventure at the woods! Also, the evenings are drawing in, meaning we get lovely golden light earlier on than in summer.
