Here are a few favorites from a family portrait session, which was such a lovely one, I can hardly believe that this is called a job when I enjoy it so much. This portrait session at the family’s home in Dulwich was actually last winter, but I have been very slow in posting recent work due to the fact that there is always editing to be done, and that always seems to take priority. I have been enjoying working in black and white so much this year, as it adds a magical and atmospheric quality to the light and it also helps to frame faces beautifully. there is also a timeless appeal to black and white portraiture, which always looks great on the wall. I love to base sessions in the family’s home, as this is where everyone is the most relaxed. It’s also really useful to be based at home where everything you need is to hand and you know where the best light will be at certain times of day. Please don’t feel you need to tidy up the entire house before your session, as we will just choose a few corners where the light is good and moving around a lot just isn’t necessary to capture a good portrait.
The season of autumn has the nicest quality of light in the year, plus its still warm enough to go outside into the garden, so if you are thinking of booking a family in home session I would recommend choosing a day in September or October. I currently have a few weekend slots left this autumn, so get in touch as soon as possible if you are thinking about it and want to take advantage of the incredible light at this time of year.
